In the Book of Genesis, Noah’s Ark is given very specific dimensions: a length of 300 cubits, a width of 50 cubits, and a height of 30 cubits. But how large was this colossal structure in modern measurements? Let’s break down the math.

Noah’s Ark in Feet

Assuming the standard biblical cubit of 18 inches (1.5 feet), we can multiply each dimension:

  • Length: 300 cubits × 1.5 = 450 feet (or 137.16 meters using metric units)
  • Width: 50 cubits × 1.5 = 75 feet (22.86 meters)
  • Height: 30 cubits × 1.5 = 45 feet (13.72 meters)

To put this in perspective, a length of 450 feet is longer than an American football field (which is 360 feet long including end zones). The height of 45 feet is equivalent to a modern four-story building.

The Volume of the Ark

The total volume of the Ark would be approximately:

  • 450 ft × 75 ft × 45 ft = 1,518,750 cubic feet

This vast space was divided into three decks, providing plenty of room for wildlife, food stores, and Noah’s family.
